Take a three day tour to discover the natural beauty of Scotland's favorite island - the Isle of Skye. It is an island of the Clans MacLeod and MacDonald, dominated by Cuillin hills, and endless beauty.

  • Tour price includes: Professional driver guide and transportation in a Mercedes minicoach with a maximum of 16 passengers on tour. A small group tour with a maximum of 16 passengers does make a big difference to your trip. It allows us to give you a more personal service. Touring with a maximum of 16 passengers, you will get more for your money, more personal attention, more time with the locals, more time off the bus, more time on the back-roads and more of an authentic, friendly experience. The smaller groups allow you to meet people from all over the world and make friends for life. All ferry and bridge crossings costs are included; discount card for restaurants, shopping, and attractions.
  • Tour price does not include:  Accommodations for the two night stay in Portree, but A Paris Travel will reserve it for you. Approximate costs per person per night: Youth Hostel: £16-£18, Bed & Breakfast: £32-£45, Hotel: £60+. Single supplement may apply. Please be advised, most accommodation providers only accept cash payments, and will not accept debit/credit cards as methods of payment. Meals and refreshments are not included in tour price; entrances to all visitor attractions are not included.
  • Tour duration: three days, two nights (luggage is restricted to one piece per person)
  • Please note: All featured castles and distilleries are open April-October - alternatives offered during October-March which may alter the route. Talisker Distillery closed on Sundays.

Day 1:  Edinburgh, Loch Lomond, Ben Nevis, Portree

Portree, ScotlandFrom Edinburgh, you will head west to Glasgow.  Your first stop will be at the picturesque conservation village of Luss.  Luss is situated on the 'Bonny, Bonny banks of Loch Lomond'.

Heading north via Tyndrum, you will pass over the desolate Rannoch Moor before enjoying time walking the dramatic Glencoe Valley. This place was the site of the massacre of the MacDonald Clan in 1692.

After lunch in the Fort William area, there will be a special stop for photos at Ben Nevis, Scotland's highest mountain. Then, there will be a stop at Glen Garry and the Five Sisters of Kintail, a stunning mountain range.

The day will end in the charming village of Portree, located on the Isle of Skye.

Overnight in Portree.

Day 2:  Talisker distillery, Dunvegan Castle or Uig and the Black Houses

 

Talisker DistilleryAfter breakfast, you will depart Portree for a full day's touring. The options include a visit to Talisker distillery and Dunvegan Castle or a trip to Uig and a stop to visit Flora MacDonald's grave and the unique Black Houses. The Black Houses were once the ancient dwellings of the Scottish Highlanders.

The day will continue to view Duntulum Castle and to take pictures of Kilt Rock. There's a lovely walk at the Lealt Falls.

The day ends with a chance to admire the Old Man of Storr rock formation before returning to Portree.

Overnight in Portree

Day 3:  Eilean Donan Castle, Fort Augustus, Pitlochry

 

Eilean Donan Castle, ScotlandToday begins with a descent to the famous Eilean Donan Castle. This was used as the backdrop for the movie 'Highlander'. Founded in the 13th Century, it was destroyed in the 18th Century and rebuilt in the 20th century.

The tour continues to the picturesque village of Fort Augustus for lunch and to enjoy views of Loch Ness.

Next stop is Laggan, a village in the Highland region of Scotland  where the Gaelic language survived the longest. It's in the Cairngorms National Park. Nearby are the Grampians, one of the three major mountain ranges in Scotland giving vistas of beautiful scenery.

Before returning to Edinburgh, the last stop for refreshments will be in the Victorian resort town of Pitlochry. Queen Victoria visited in 1842 and it's a very special little town.
