Orange and Chateauneuf du Pape (Pope’s Palace)
You’ll have breakfast at the hotel. At 9:00, you will be picked up at the hotel to depart for a visit and wine-tasting in Château Piolenc where the Bernard family has lived since the middle of the 17th century. In 1971, the business was inherited by Michel Bernard. He now runs the vineyard with his wife and daughter, Dominique and Amandine. The 18th century château, adjoining a 12th century farm, provides the ideal conditions for the wines to age gracefully in French oak barrels. Lunch on your own. In the afternoon, you will visit the Roman theater in Orange. One of the best preserved from the Roman times, the stage wall of the theater is almost entirely intact. Next, you’ll visit the vineyards in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and have a stop for a panoramic view of the Rhône valley at the Castle of Châteauneuf du Pape. A very special part of the day will be wine-tasting in a Domaine in Châteauneuf du Pape, that will include a guided visit of the winemaking, the ageing, and stocking cellars, followed by a tasting of a Châteauneuf-du-Pape white and red wine. Overnight in Avignon.

The day will begin with breakfast at your hotel before being picked up at 9:00 AM to visit and enjoy some wine-tasting in a Castle in Mormoiron, a family-run vineyard in the south of the Rhône Valley on the Côtes du Ventoux appellation. It operates on the principles of sustainable agriculture. You will then do a picnic lunch in the wine estate (drinks included). The day isn’t over, but instead, you will continue to Gigondas for a visit and wine-tasting in a cellar. Gigondas wines are considered as Cru of the Southern Côtes du Rhône valley.
