Paris Neighborhoods

Rodin's ThinkerParis is divided into 20 arrondissements or neighborhoods.  These are municipal administrative districts and each arrondissement has its own government (ie. mayor, etc.), too. If you see that your hotel address is 75008, you will know that you'll be staying in the 8th arrondissement!   If your hotel address is 75011, you will be staying in the 11th arrondissement. A Paris Travel is a full service tour operator and is ready to help with your travel plans for France.

The pulse of Paris can be felt in the neighborhood, each with unique sights, smells, charm, character and landmarks! Montmartre's (18th arrondissment or 18ème) artists are the essence of that little village. In the 1st arrondissement (75001), you will find the Louvre.  In the 6th arrondissement on the Left Bank, you will discover the Luxembourg Gardens.  Walking the Marais (4th arrondissement or 4ème), for example, visitors can visit the Musée Picasso, shop in elegant boutiques, admire the tradition and history alive in the Jewish quarter of Rue des Rosiers, and visit the Place des Vosges, France's first royal square. Across the Seine River in the Latin Quarter (5ème), you'll discover narrow little streets, many students, international restaurants, and a village feeling. Each neighborhood offers up a feast of enjoyment to the traveler wishing to explore Paris.

Concorde ObeliskThroughout Paris, you observe a bustling, urban existence. During the morning commute hours, be ready to move quickly through the metro stations to get your train. The people walk quickly and with purpose. At the markets, you can see old ladies pulling their carts as they make their fresh purchases! What a visual contrast to also see the hurried, but purposeful manner in which the fashionably dressed younger women walk in the highest of high heeled shoes (and never miss a beat!). They are out to be seen and the scene is vibrant and anything but still.

And so...life goes on as Paris' buildings, avenues, passages, and people are all intertwined. They are intricately adorned with jewels to be discovered. In the City of Light, the curious tourist has a superbly decorated city waiting to be admired! Click here to read about our Paris tours. We are here to help you discover this sparkling city!
