A noteworthy and most colorful event not to be missed in London will be the Chelsea flower show that many label the 'greatest flower show on earth'. Celebrating its centenary, the dates for the 2013 Chelsea Flower show will be May 21-May 25, 2013.

Attended each year by more than 150,000 visitors to the 11-acre grounds, tickets to be sold are limited and this flower show is Britain's equivalent to Paris Fashion Week. The grounds of the Royal Hospital are transformed into a vista of show gardens for this annual event sponsored by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS). 

June 2, 2013 will be the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's formal coronation that took place in 1953 when she was just 26 years of age. Her father, King George VI had died on February 6, 1952 and though she was proclaimed queen that year, her official coronation wasn't until 1953. Certainly it will be a jubilant time in London and throughout the country. The Coronation Festival at Buckingham Palace will be held from July 11-14, 2013.

In October, the National Theatre Company will mark its 50th anniversary since first opening at the Old Vic theatre. The Shard is London's glass skyscraper that is a 95-storey story opening to the public in 2013. It is the tallest building in Western Europe and the viewing gallery and open-air observation deck will be located on the 72nd floor. The architect was Renzo Piano (also one of three architects who designed the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris) and the rich tapestry of scenery from the Shard will reflect London's history and the views stretching 40 miles with a 360-degree view.
