Departing from the Aix-en-Provence tourism office, the tour to Les Baux de Provence is year round on Sunday and Tuesday. Les Baux is a spectacular village seemingly perched on the hillside of the arid Alpilles peaks.

  • Tour days: Year round on Tuesday and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM
  • Included: Visit to Les Baux de Provence, entrance to the castle
  • Vehicle: Air-conditioned minibus that seats 8 passengers

The Alpilles is a range of limestone mountains in Provence and an extension of the Luberon Regional Park (where the wondrous villages of Bonnieux, Gordes, and Roussillon are located and where you can take another tour!).

On the way to Les Baux, you will see an AOC olive oil mill. The name Les Baux came from from the Provencal word baou which means rocky spur.  When you arrive there, you'll see how apt the name is. (Another interesting detail is that Les Baux gave its name to the aluminum ore "bauxite" since it was first discovered there in 1821.)

Arriving in Les Baux, you will have time to visit the village that is rich in 15th and 16th century mansions (and fantastic shops!) and the Castle before you return to Aix.
