Happy 2013 and welcome to our new blog. I thought it would be a great way to tell you about the changes to A Paris Travel's website for 2013 and in future postings I'll tell you ...well, you're just going to have to check back to see what I'm sharing.

First, we've updated the look of our site and offer more tours throughout France as well as its fine neighbors Great Britain, Italy, Belgium, Holland, and Switzerland. We've also added additional cruise ship excursions for cruises arriving in Le Havre, Cherbourg, Bordeaux, Le Verdon, Honfleur, and Rouen.

As I begin a new year working with guests with their travel arrangements and begin to plan new trips, tours, and itineraries, I'm reminded of a statement made by a wonderful person who came on one of my escorted tours to Paris and Normandy for D-Day. At the end of a very stimulating day to memorable D-Day sites, he said "I am forever changed!".  Isn't that profound? Doesn't that apply to us as travelers? If we are not changed, then why do it? It's in the change that happens as we acquaint ourselves with new people in foreign countries, immerse ourselves in new places, experiences, cultures, and adventures, as we learn about the history that has shaped the place we're visiting, and as we taste new foods, stay in new accommodations, and perhaps have confidence and courage to even venture out on our own to discover further things about the location, we are changed! It feels good and that's why we return for more.

I know that travel can be stressful though and certainly planning to go to Europe can be overwhelming. However, I love that part and look forward to another year of meeting new people as I assist with trip planning or arranging private tours for Normandy or a guide for Brussels or a walking tour in Rome or that special tour to Stonehenge. I'm ready!

I am Sue Lillie, President of A Paris Travel. I have been arranging travel to France and Britain since 1997. I was teaching French at the time and had taken a group of parents and students to Paris during Spring Break in 1996. That trip was organized by a large company that had been doing student tours for years. Upon my return, I realized that I could do what I had just done in the way of a tour and could do it much better. The rest is (as they say) "history" since while I continued to teach several more years, I did start A Paris Travel and organized my own group tours. Constrained by my teaching schedule, I could only travel at Spring Break and during summer. Then in 1999, I decided that I wanted to pursue a career as a full time tour operator and stopped teaching. This allowed me to make connections with outstanding France partners which in turn gave me knowledge, confidence, and resources to plan trips for individuals going to France on their own. Still, I continued escorting my own small groups and continue to do so. I've added the knowledge of and love for Britain travel to my travel website and look forward to helping many more new friends who find A Paris Travel on the web as they search for the best way to plan a trip to France and Britain.
