Ancient Rome Private Tour AR

Colosseum

Explore Ancient Rome's Colosseum and Roman Forum with a private guide. You'll actually stroll where the Romans once walked.

  • Tour dates: Daily
  • Duration: 3 hours
  • Tour stops: Roman Colosseum, Roman Forum, Capitol Hill

The tour of Ancient Rome will start at the Roman Colosseum, an amphitheater in the middle of Rome and the largest such amphitheater constructed during the Roman Empire. An amazing structure, it is made entirely of stone and concrete. Once upon a time, it seated 50,000 spectators and was used for public spectacles and for contests between gladiators. (It's also depicted on Italy's version of the five-cent euro coin.)

Your Ancient Rome tour will also take you to the Roman Forum. It's thrilling to walk in these ruins and imagine Julius Caesar once being there. You will learn that this area was the center of Roman public life and its  location in a small valley between the Palatine and Capitoline Hills is today a sprawling ruin of fragments of architecture with ongoing archeological excavations.

Capitoline Hill is where Rome's holiest temples stood, including the most sacred, the Temple to Jupiter. Today, Capitoline Hill is home to the Capitoline Museum, a world-class museum of Roman artifacts.
